Where art meets cake

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book my cake?

As soon as you have the basic preliminary details finalized (approx. how many people, and when/where your event is going to be). Since I book a limited number of cakes per weekend, popular months such as September through February book quickly, sometimes 8 months in advance.
A minimum of 4 to 6 weeks is required for three-dimensional designs, cakes with sugar flowers, as well as any figurines.

Do all the tiers of my cake have to be the same flavour cake?
No, each tier of your cake may be a different flavour. I offer chocolate, vanilla and lemon cakes for birthday cakes and a variety of other flavours for weddings. Please check my cake flavour list to select your choices.

What are your Hours of Operation?

Cake Diva is a home based business. Because of this its by appointment only. Please do not hesitate to call me at  082 412 9953  or email riana@cakediva.co.za to make an appointment.

How much should I expect to pay for my cake?
Because every cake is different, it is impossible to give an exact price without knowing all the details. This is variable based on the design and size of the cake, in addition to the types of fillings and icings used. The amount of decoration needed for a cake can raise the cost above the starting price. Naturally, a large, intricate cake is going to cost you more than a small, simple cake. Sculpted or shaped cakes are priced on a case-by-case basis.

How can I pay for my cake?
I accept cash and electronic payments.

Do you offer cake tastings?
I offer free cake tastings for cakes over 80 servings only. See when my next tasting day is and request a booking.

We’re on a tight budget for our wedding, can you work with us?
Yes! We have options available for most budgets, so do not hesitate to let me know what your estimated budget is before a consultation.

Do I have to pick a cake from your portfolio?
Absolutely not! The portfolio is there to display my past work and to inspire you! I will custom design your cake just for you. Of course, if you see a cake in the portfolio that you like and want it duplicated, it can be achieved. But as most of our decorations are hand-made or modelled, there may be very slight differences to the cakes.

What is your delivery area?
I deliver mainly to the Gauteng area, but arrangements can be made for other areas. I do charge a delivery fee.

Do you rent cake stands?
I rent cupcake stands if you order mini cakes, cupcakes or Sweetie pie cakes from me.

What is a dummy cake?
A dummy cake is made of Styrofoam and is decorated just like a regular cake. A dummy layer can be included in the construction of a multi-tiered cake to provide the look of a larger cake when the number of servings needed results in a cake that is smaller than what you had in mind.

What is your refund and cancellation policy? A non-refundable deposit of 50% is due at the time of order placement. The balance is due in full upon collection, or in the event of a delivery the balance is due 2 weeks prior.
If a cancellation is made less than two weeks prior, the balance is due in full. No changes can be made with less than 14 days before the date of collection/delivery.
In the event of cancellation:
All requests for cancellation must be made in writing and please follow-up the request to ensure that we have received it, should you not receive an e-mail confirming receipt of your cancellation.
If a cancellation is received, the aforementioned deposit will not be refundable. In addition to this, the client will be responsible to settle the value of any other expenses incurred relating to the order (special décor items procured) that exceeds the 50% deposit.
If a cancellation is received less than two weeks prior to the promised delivery date, the full balance will remain due by the client, in full.
